Doug Casteel (4-28-17) service 4-30-17

Douglas Earl “Doug” Casteel was born on Nov. 22, 1943, the son of the late William Harold and Mary Sallie Hulen Casteel. On April 10, 1965, he married Linda Ann Conner, who survives.
Douglas departed this life on Friday, April 28, at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 6 days.
Douglas was a logger all of his life. He attended Campground United Methodist Church. Douglas enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved his dogs.
Along with his wife, Douglas is survived by his son, Paul Casteel and wife Samantha of Savannah; daughter, Cassie Casteel; brothers, Junior Casteel and Ronnie Casteel, both of Savannah; sisters, Patsy Talley, Margie Smith, Barbara Meeks, Mary Jo Stricklin and Sharon Weber, all of Savannah; and grandchildren, Sarah Casteel, Zachary Casteel, Silas Cherry, Cierra Cherry and Dana Cherry.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Clyde Casteel.
Services were held on Sunday, April 30, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with John Pennington officiating. Burial followed in Campground Cemetery at Savannah.
