Gilbert Manriquez (2-28-17)
Gilbert Manriquez, of Savannah, departed this life on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 18 days.
He was born in Clifton, Arizona on April 10, 1936, the son of the late Jose and Lena Fierro Manriquez. On Dec. 30, 2000, he was united in marriage to Helen June Whittaker, who survives.
Gilbert served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Santa Cruz County, California for years and moved to Hardin County in 2008. He was an engineer and had worked for Teledyne DALSA Semiconductor. He enjoyed all sports and being involved with sports, especially golf. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Savannah.
He is survived by his wife, Helen June Whittaker Manriquez of Savannah; children, Gil Manriquez of San Jose, California and Sherry Manriquez Cusimano of Santa Cruz, California; grandchildren, Matthew Cusimano, James Manriquez and Christina Manriquez; and brothers, George Manriquez and James Manriquez, both of San Jose, California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Weaver.
A private burial was held at the Manriquez Cemetery at Savannah with Jimmy Wallace officiating.
