James “Mac” McMahan (2-24-17) service 2-27-17
James Kenneth “Mac” McMahan was born July 12, 1942, in Corinth, Mississippi, the son of the late Wilford and Lois Meeks McMahan.
He was united in marriage to Sheila Rogers on Nov. 9, 1973. He was a lifelong member of Ramer Baptist Church; 5th District county commissioner for more than 20 years; officer of local 993 Union; president of Ramer High School FFA Chapter; and worked 42 years at the papermill in Counce.
Mr. McMahan was an avid Tennessee Vols fan. He spent many nights and weekends cheering on his daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren as they played a variety of sports. He never missed a game until the last year when it became more difficult to attend. Mac was often known for his meticulate yard and beautiful flowers.
Mr. McMahan departed this life on Friday, Feb. 24, in Ramer, at the age of 74 years, 7 months, 12 days.
He is survived by his wife Sheila Rogers McMahan of Ramer; two daughters, Paige McMahan Teague and husband Shane of Ramer, Brooke McMahan Maness and husband Trent of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a son, Scott McMahan of New York; a sister, Fadra McMahan Cass and husband Mike of Counce; a brother, Bill McMahan and wife Tammy of Olive Branch, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Stone Teague, Aspen Teague, Coy Teague, Ainsley Maness, Audrey Maness, Lauren Maness Smith and Clay Maness; special friend and caregiver, Sherry Robinson; Paul Ervin and the coffee shop crew; and many other freinds.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McMahan was preceded in death by a son, Jamie McMahan.
Services were held on Monday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at Ramer Baptist Church in Ramer with Joe Loncar officiating. Burial followed in Ramer Baptist Church Cemetery at Ramer.
