Anna Lucile Johnson Austin of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, at the age of 97.
Lucile was born in Tennessee, Nov. 21, 1919, the daughter of William and Otha Johnson. She was very active at First United Methodist Church. Lucile was chairman of Priscilla’s Circle, a Sunday school teacher, belonged to the United Methodist Women and was on the PTA. She was active in many senior groups and part of the “good ol’ girls” at Westwood United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. She enjoyed sewing and flower gardening.
Lucile is survived by her daughter, Martha Karlzen of Charlotte; son, David Austin of Texas; grandchildren, Stephen (Kimberly) Karlzen, Kathryn (Ron) Lovejoy, Kathleen Austin, Rebecca (Matthew) Bridges, Karen (Corey) Austin-Ack;
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earby Austin; brothers, Daniel, Leithe, Charles, Sam, Paul and Jamie Johnson; and sister, Mildred.
Services will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids Building Fund. The memorial service for Lucile Johnson Austin will be held at Barnhill United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 1, Visitation will be at 11 a.m. and the service at 12 p.m.
Those who remember the family are invited to come and share the memories as they visit with her children and other family members.
