Jack Farris departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 26, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 1 day.
He was born in Savannah, the son of the late Lon and Amy Alexander Farris. On April 13, 1968, he was united in marriage to Iva Brown, who survives.
Jack farmed with his dad as a young man and had run the boat dock at the Botel for many years. Jack was a member of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and a former member of the National Rifle Association. He had served in the United States Army.
He loved four-wheeling and camping at Indian Creek and really enjoyed going to flea markets looking for old stuff. Jack was very knowledgeable about older vehicles and their maintenance. He had a 1956 Chevrolet that he was the second owner of and still owned his first vehicle, a 1938 Ford.
Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years, Iva Farris and son, Michael Farris, both of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hugh and Mollie Alexander and Dave and Nancy Farris.
