Karen Melson (1-14-17) service 1-21-17

Karen Laverne Hallum Melson, 58, of Savannah, died on Saturday, Jan. 14.
She was the daughter of  JoAnn Baker and the late Walter Lee Hallum.
She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church. She worked as a cashier at Walmart for 11 years.
In addition to her mother, JoAnn Baker, she is survived by her daughters, Betty Leeann Lopez of Savannah, Ashley Dawn Stansell of Jackson, Tennessee, and JoAnna Sue Sharp of Savannah; brothers, Michael Hallum, Jimmy Hallum and Timmy Hallum, all of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Betty Jo Shoemake of Savannah; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Glenn Hallum; step-father, Brice Nelson Long; and grandparents, Hughie Haskell and Zillie Baker.
Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at New Life United Pentecostal Church in Savannah with Larry Adair officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
