Ruby Inez Churchwell Ford, 96, of Crump, died on Sunday, Jan. 8, in Katy, Texas. She was born in Adamsville, the daughter of the late John H. and Octavia Harris Churchwell. She was united in marriage to Ray E. Ford, who preceded her in death. During World War II years, 1941 to 1945, she worked in Memphis, Milan and Cordova, Tennessee where she helped manufacture parts and ammunition for the war effort. Mrs. Ford was a member of Crump Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, David Ford; five grandchildren; brothers, John Churchwell, Jimmy Churchwell and Gene Churchwell; sisters, Millie Ungren and Mary Schumacher; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Glenda Sypniewski and Debra Carol Searcy; two sisters, Fay Stone and Ressie Massingham; and one brother, Earl Churchwell. Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jim Griffith officiating. Burial followed in Crump Cemetery.
