Odie Jack Harmon (10-5-16)

OJ Harmon was born July 25, 1941, to Dora Inez and Grady Thomas Harmon. He lived most of his life in Hardin County, graduating from Central High School in 1959.  At the time of his death he resided in Huntsville, Alabama. He died Wednesday, Oct. 5, from cancer. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill and Jim Harmon; and sister Jean Hudgins. 
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Evana Decker Harmon, son Alan (Thelma) of Ocala Florida, daughter Kay (Perry) Byars of Oak Grove, Florida, sons Grady (Margaret) of Huntsville and Stephen (Betsy) of Killen, Alabama, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  His sisters, Faye Perry, Marguerite McKnight and brother Mack Harmon also survive him.
He attended Ballard and Nixon elementary schools and graduated from Central High School in 1959. He became a welder and an electrician, joining the IBEW in 1969.  He was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. 
Jack was known for his sense of humor and ability to tell a story, his wide smile and the way he loved family get-togethers. He raised a fine garden and enjoyed telling us all how he cooked the vegetables that he grew. He had a way of finding common ground with everyone he met, children and adults alike.
