Bobby Gene Perry Sr. (10-21-16) service 10-27-16

Bobby Gene Perry Sr. departed this life on Friday, Oct. 21, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 21 days.
He was born April 8, 1935, to the late William Taft Perry and Bertha Franks Perry. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Jerrolds Perry, who preceded him in death.
He grew up in the Pinhook and Gillis Mills communites. He worked in timber as a young man with his father then went to work at Rochelle Lumber Company. He worked many years on the river, working for Alter Barge Line and Arrow Barge Line. After leaving river work, he worked for Alexander and Sharpe Lumber Company and B&R Lumber Company. In his last years he worked and was known for his excellence in carpenter work.
He is survived by his son, Bobby Gene Perry Jr. of Savannah; granddaughters, Amanda Perry Morris and husband Phillip of Savannah, Hope Perry Howell and husband Ricky “Pee Wee” Howell of Adamsville, and Hazen Mae Perry of Savannah; former daughter-in-law, Jeanne Belle Perry; sister, Nancy Perry Curtis and husband Allen and children Kevin Curtis and Amy Curtis Shelby; great-grandchildren, Melody and Maggie Morris, Zachary, Quinten, Molly and Lacey Howell; god-daughter, Kim Parrish Austin and husband Donald; god-grandson, Knox Perry Young; longtime friend and caregiver, Wanda Parrish; and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by sister, Betty Perry Reed, brother, William “Pee Wee” Perry and sister, Sue Perry Story.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 27, 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at East End United Methodist Church, Fairground St., Savannah, with Celebration of Life service at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
