Ada Sowell (10-5-16) service 10-8-16

Ada Dickey Sowell, of Savannah, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 23 days. 
She was born in Olive Hill on Feb. 12, 1947, the daughter of the late Wareka Ray and Ocie Louella Umphrey Dickey.  On July 4, 1972, she was united in marriage to Clyde Delane Sowell, who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2016.
Ada had lived in Michigan City, Indiana in the Pines, before moving back to Hardin County and was a member of Crossroads Union Church. She had worked for Hickory Pit and was a stocker at Wal-Mart.  Ada loved to vacation and sing.  She especially loved her grandkids and great-grandkids very much, and they could do no wrong in her eyes.
She is survived by her children, Mitchalene O’Neal, Monica O’Neal and Mona Kinkennon, all of Savannah, Clyde Sowell Jr. of Copperas Cove, Texas, Lena Jean Sowell of San Antonio, Texas, and Judy Franks and husband Troy of Savannah; brother, Charlie Dickey of Tennessee; sister, Juanita McCormick of Savannah; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by son, Eddie Sowell; sisters, Virginia Melson, Paulette Dickey and Mageline Dickey.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah,  with Scott Melson officiating. Burial followed in Crossroads Cemetery at Hardin County.
