Millie Martin (9-26-16) service 9-30-16

Millie Lucille Martin, of Counce, was born in Sardis on June 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles Walter and Zonie Perkins Rice.
In 1955 she was united in marriage to Paul E. “Corky” Martin, who preceded his wife in death on Feb. 21, 1989.
Mrs. Martin was a retired teller from Citizens Bank. She was a member of Counce First Baptist Church where she served as treasurer. Mrs. Martin enjoyed working with her flower and rose garden. She was very devoted to her church family and her family, where everyone knew her as “Aunt Lucy.”
Mrs. Martin departed this life on Monday, Sept. 26, in Savannah, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 4 days.
She is survived by one son, Anthony Wayne Martin and his wife Sandra of Lexington, Tennessee.
Mrs. Martin is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Tommy Martin and his wife Joanne of Counce, Janice Porterfield of Atlanta, Texas, Joyce Waters of Counce, Phillip Martin of El Paso, Texas, Anita Fletcher of Asheville, North Carolina, Linda Mitzke of Memphis, Mickey Barker of Savannah, Paula Byrd of Nashville, Marty Rice of Nashville, Mike Rice, Steve Rice and Janet Rice.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Cecil, Paul and Holland Rice.
Services were held on Friday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m., at Counce First Baptist Church with Ken Story and Rev. Jimmie McChristial officiating. Burial followed in White Sulphur Cemetery  at Pickwick Dam.
