Donny Gibbs Sr. (9-10-16) service 9-12-16

Donny Max Gibbs Sr., 71, of Stantonville, died on Saturday, Sept. 10, in Corinth, Mississippi.
He was born in Crump, the son of the late Finley “Tony” Edgar and Birdie Haure Moffett Gibbs. He was united in marriage to Dianna Sue Umphrey, who survives.
Mr. Gibbs worked for the City of Memphis Fire Department for 27-1/2 years, finishing his fire fighter career as lieutenant. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Selmer. He was one of the founding fathers and served on the board for the Habitat for Humanity of McNairy County. In 2013, he was awarded McNairy County Volunteer of the year. In 2005 and 2016, he received Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero Awards.
 In addition to his wife, Dianna Sue Gibbs of Stantonville, he is survived by his children,  Donny Max Gibbs Jr. of Selmer, Richard Edward Gibbs of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Michelle Gibbs Wallis of Adamsville; six grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Gibbs of Adamsville and Kenny Gibbs of Savannah; a sister, Martha Davey of Adamsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, W.M., John Elmer, Hoover, Joe, Fay, Ray and Billy Gibbs; and three sisters, Charlene Powell, Louise Watson and Margaret Scott.
Services were held on Monday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church in Selmer with Joey Johnson officiated. Burial followed in Crump Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or First Baptist Church building fund.
