Robert Evans (7-29-16) service 8-1-16

Robert Jerrell Evans was born July 17, 1941, in Selmer, the son of the late A.J. and Lucille McNatt Evans. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Yurkovich on April 15, 1967.
Mr. Evans was a retired foreman from Tennessee River Pulp and Paper. He was a member of Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Selmer where he was a elder. He loved to help with the ministry of Food For The Soul. He also loved woodworking, the outdoors, gardening, fellowship with friends, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Evans departed this life on Friday, July 29, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 75 years, 12 days.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine Yurkovich Evans of Selmer; a daughter, Timberly Evans Avendanio and husband Bernard of Irving, Texas; a son, Christopher Michael Evans and wife Julie of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Taylor Icenberger, Sydney Evans and Alex  Evans; his mother in law, Alma Yurkovich; a sister in law, Judy Lampi and husband Ray; an uncle, Tony Evans and wife Anita of Jackson, Tennessee; a friend/co-worker, Jimmy Wilkes; and the Court Avenue Cumberland Presbyterian congregation.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a brother, Travis “Butch” Evans.
Services were held on Monday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer with Jodie Hill officiating. Burial followed at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs, Tennessee.
Memorials may be made to Court Avenue Cumberland Church of Selmer Van Fund or Food For The Soul.
