Opal Pleasant (7-11-16) service 7-13-16

Opal Pleasant was born on April 9, 1922, the son of the late Fred and Mittie Ann Pleasant.
Mr. Pleasant was a pipe fitter at Johnson Controls in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for more than 50 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah for 20 years. In more recent years, he attended Riverview Baptist in Savannah. He loved collecting arrow heads, working in his yard, telling jokes and playing cards. He was an avid Alabama football fan and had great adoration for the Atlanta Braves. He found joy in sharing prayer, Biblical wisdom, and Godly advice with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He departed this life on Monday, July 11, in Savannah, at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 2 days.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Katherine, of Savannah; one daughter, Kathy Patterson (Danny) Petty; five grandchildren, Mitzi Knight, Tandi (Shane) Tilson, Traci (Jimmie) Melson, Chipp (Tabitha) Petty and Marci Petty; eight great-grandchildren, Cade Knight,  Aidan, Langdan, Rylan and Marianna Melson, Milo Petty, and Sarah Katherine and Matti Tilson, all of Savannah.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Edith Umphers; and two brothers, Hollis and Dan Pleasant.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 13, at Shackelford Chapel with Brent Colley officiating. Burial in Memory Garden in Savannah.
