Ruby Southerland (6-26-16) service 6-28-16

Ruby Southerland, 98, of Savannah, died on Sunday, June 26.
She was born in Wayne County to the late John Henry and Fannie Belle Sherrill Wright.  She was united in marriage to Byron Hollis Southerland, who preceded her in death. 
Mrs. Southerland was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Savannah. In addition to being a pastor’s wife for more than 40 years, she worked at many different jobs–retail clerk, school lunchroom supervisor, World Book representative, Sarah Coventry representative, nurse’s aide at the hospital and hospital gift shop.
She is survived by her children, Gwen Weaver of Savannah, Nell Moore of Portland, Tennessee, Sue Lambert of Savannah, and John “Sonny” Southerland of Savannah; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson; five stepgrandchildren and fivestep-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Ruthie Patterson, Ruia Pigg and Eva Roberson; and four brothers, Jay Wright, Clayborn Wright, Clifford Wright and Guilford Wright; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnie B. Wright and Robert D. Wright; and a grandson.
Services were held on Tuesday, June 28, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Savannah with Paul Weaver officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
