Arnold Stewart (6-2-16) service 6-5-16
Arnold Gene Stewart departed this life on Thursday, June 2, in Savannah, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, 12 days.
He was born Sept. 21, 1933, in Hardin County, the son of the late William Henry and Lydia Pearl Morton Stewart.
Mr. Stewart was a retired U. S. Army Medic with 20 years of service. After his Army retirement, he worked for 20 years with the Environmental Management Service at the VA Hospital in Nashville.
He was united in marriage to Patsy Ann Gallaher in 1955. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1987.
More than anything, Mr. Stewart loved to help others. It might be giving someone a few dollars, some food, some flowers, a washer and dryer, or even a vehicle. He had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Deroy Stewart of Savannah; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by three sisters, Josey Victory, Edna Henson and Mevolyn Francour; four brothers, Fulton Stewart, William “Bill” Stewart, Glenn Stewart and Nelson Stewart.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 5, at 3:30 p.m., at New Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Savannah with Bro. Carl Copeland officiating. Interment followed in Memory Gardens of Hardin County at Savannah.
