Fannie Smith (5-23-16) service 5-25-16

Fannie Mae Hanna Smith, age 97, of Saltillo, passed away Monday, May 23, at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born at Hinkle, Tennessee, and grew up there, the daughter of the late Hugh L. and Della McMurray Hanna. She graduated high school and lived in Memphis a few years during World War II, working at the Army Depot as a “rivet girl” making airplanes. She came back to Hinkle and worked for Brown Shoe Company at Savannah. She married Edward Smith in 1960 and they made their home at Saltillo.
She was an active member of Saltillo Church of Christ and the Saltillo Senior Citizens. Mr. Smith preceded in death in 2004. She continued to make her home in Saltillo until March 2014, when she broke her hip and then made her home at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation in Henderson.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a stepdaughter, Sue Roberts of Saltillo; and two stepgrandchildren.  She is also survived by two nephews, Charles Kent and Max Doss; a niece Marlene Barnes; and numerous great-nieces and nephews with her care givers being Danny and Jan Johnson and Janet Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Smith; a brother, Hugh Hanna; and three sisters, Carrie Johnson, Agnes Doss and Cora Kent.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, at Saltillo Church of Christ with David Baker officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery at Enville.
