Sidney Burks (5-4-16) service 5-12-16
Sidney Layne Burks was born May 11, 1960, in Savannah, the son of Billie Evans Bryan and Billy Bryan.
He departed this life on Wendesday, May 4, at the age of 55 years, 11 months, 23 days. He was a carpenter by trade.
Sidney was a very thankful, giving and loving individual. He would text “good morning good girls” to Sarah and Paige every day. He never ended a phone conversation to his family without saying “I love you.”
He was a member of Adamsville Church of Christ and a carpenter’s union member in Corinth, Mississippi. Sidney was a great artist and very talented in carpentry design. He was a 1978 graduate of Adamsville High School and received an Associates degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was a member of Pickwick Southside Eagles 1976 basketball state championship team. He graduated from Adamsville High School due to a fire at the Pickwick Southside school. Sidney enjoyed carpentry, the Grand Ole Opry, camping, grilling out and being helpful to anybody in need.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Cagle and husband Jonathan of Lexington and Paige Burks of Adamsville; his parents, Billy and Billie Evans Bryan of Shiloh; a grandchild, Patrick Todd Cagle; a brother, Randall Burks; four sisters, Connie Moffett, Lana Hammock, Omie McAfee, Brenda Burks, and a host of extended family and friends.
Sidney was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Earl (Herb) Burks.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 12, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer with Bailey Everett, Nick Jones and Vicki Evans Paré officiating. Burial followed in West Shiloh Cemetery at Stantonville.
