Corda Ruth Chambers Rodgers was born to James Cleveland and Minnie Bell Chambers on Nov. 15, 1916, in McNairy County. She was a devoted Christian for many years. She graduated school in 1936 in Pickwick. Ruth married her husband Fred in 1940. She loved her quilting club. Ruth served and loved her family faithfully all of her life. She had a heart of love and compassion for all people. Ruth loved her church and attended as long as she could walk.
Mrs. Rodgers departed this life on Sunday, March 6, in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 99 years, 3 months, 20 days. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Beckham of Millington, Tennessee; no children of her own, but her children were her nephews, nieces and her church children. She loved them dearly and they loved her.
Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband Fred Rodgers; a sister, Rachel Pickens; and a brother, J.C. Chambers.
Services were held on Tuesday, March 8, at 1 p.m., at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Shiloh with Danny Atkinson and Walt Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Pisgah Cemetery at Shiloh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church.
