Janice Tanner Sanford departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 20, at the age of 67 years, 4 months, 22 days.
She was born in Hardin County on Sept. 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Grady and Helen Price Tanner. On June 30, 2006, she was united in marriage to Gary W. Sanford, who survives.
Janice or “Mickey” as she was known, lived most of her life in the Walkertown Community, and attended Love and Truth and the Church of the Nazarene. She had worked at Hardin Medical Center, Family Dollar, Cherry’s Truck Store, and Brown Shoe Factory. She was a devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother to her children and grandchildren. She loved to dance to country music. Janice also had a little Yorkie dog named Scooter she enjoyed playing with.
She is survived by her husband, Gary W. Sanford of Savannah; children, Denny Hunt and his wife Sarah Jo of Savannah, Shannon McFall and her husband William also of Savannah; grandchildren, Dillon Blake McFall, Dustin Riley McFall, Dallas Michael McFall, and Keagan Hopper, all of Savannah; sisters, Dorothy Tanner and Sue Benson, both of Savannah and Lynda Murchison of Arlington, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Ann Tanner.
Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Philip Meek officiating. Burial followed in Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
