Joe C. Robinson (2-5-16)

Oct. 20, 1930 – Feb. 5, 2016
Joe C. Robinson of Brandon, Florida passed away and went home to the Lord on Friday, Feb. 5.
He was born to Orville and Dora Robinson near Savannah.
Joe was married to Jackie Irene Robinson for 62 years. She preceded him in death in 2012 after Joe faithfully cared for her during the years she suffered with Alzheimer’s.
He is survived by daughter, Rebecca Hoffman (Jerry) of Brandon, Florida; sons, Tom Robinson (Peggy) of Dunlap, Illinois; Mike Robinson (Sharon) of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Phil Robinson (Gail) of Phoenix, Arizona; and Mark Robinson (Theresa) of Louisburg, North Carolina. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Joe came to faith in Christ as an adult and tried to be faithful from that time forward. He served as a deacon in several churches and in lay ministries in Central Illinois, Lake Placid, Florida and Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. He often talked to people at his work about his faith. Joe retired from Caterpillar in 1984 as an electronic repairman after working there for 31 years. During his life, Joe ran his own TV repair business, built two houses, and traveled extensively with Irene to every state except Alaska and into Europe, Canada and Mexico. He was a self-taught musician – learning to play the guitar, banjo and fiddle all by ear.
The family is appreciative of the loving concern of staff and fellow residents at Hawthorne Village in Brandon where Joe lived for the last year and a half as well as to Home Instead and LifePath Hospice who helped care for him in his last weeks. A celebration of life will be held in Savannah at a later date where Joe will be buried next to his loving wife. Donations can be made to Peoria Rescue Ministries, Rural Home Missionary Association, a local Alzheimer’s Association or a local Hospice Center.
