James E. Stanfill (11-2-15) service 11-5-15

James E. Stanfill departed this life on Monday, Nov. 2, at the age of 86 years, 8 months, 16 days.
He was born in Sardis, Tennessee on Feb. 17, 1929, the son of the late Clayton and Timma Johnson Stanfill. On Dec. 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Alene Shelby Stanfill, who survives.
James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as a bridge foreman for the Hardin Highway Department. He enjoyed being outside mowing and farming, loved talking, and visiting with people. He attended Whites Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alene Stanfill of Savannah; daughter, Beverly Jerrolds and husband Rickey of Savannah; and grandchildren, Kaylie and Tyler Jerrolds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd Stanfill, R.C. Stanfill and Roy Stanfill; and sisters, Alma Lindsey, Alice Durham, Nellie Newman, Bernice Brewer and Myrtle Nixon.
Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Linam officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
