Helen “Joyce” Carroll (10-23-15) service 11-20-15

Helen “Joyce” Carroll, age 88, passed away at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. 
She was born in Waynesboro and was raised in a beautiful Victorian house in Savannah.  She attended a women’s college in Virginia, and studied home economics.  Joyce dedicated her life to the service of her family and earned the respect, love and admiration of her family for her selflessness and her tireless devotion.  She had a variety of jobs over her lifetime.  Applying her endless love of animals, she worked with a veterinarian clinic providing grooming, surgical assistance and medical care.  She was an accomplished artist who enjoyed working with oil paints, collecting vaseline glass, and upholstering and refinishing furniture. Other jobs she performed included dental assistant, selling antiques and owning a dress shop. 
Joyce also served as a volunteer for numerous community programs and St. Marks United Methodist Church.  She received a joint resolution from the State House and Senate of Tennessee in 2002, sponsored by Senator Larry Trail, to honor and congratulate her on the celebration of her 75th birthday. 
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William Allen Nesbett and Nette Yeiser Nesbett; husband, Arch Carroll Walker Sr.; and sister, Billie Jean Tarbett. 
She is survived by her sons, Arch Carroll Walker Jr. of Murfreesboro and William Nesbett Carroll of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughters, Helen Joyce Carroll of Mountain View, California and Jane Carroll of Swannanoa, North Carolina, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 20, at St. Marks United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.

Interment services for Helen “Joyce” Nesbett Carroll, 88, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m., at Savannah Cemetery, at the Nesbett family site.
