Mary Bishop (10-15-15) service 10-17-15

Mary Ruth Barton Bishop was born in Adamsville on Feb. 25, 1935, the daughter of the late Luther Perry and Eliza Irvin Barton.
On April 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to R.C. Bishop, who preceded his wife in death on March 15, 1982.
Mrs. Bishop was a machine operator for Brown Shoe Company for 40 years. She was a member of Crossroads Union Church. Mrs. Bishop loved to dance, fish and to be around people, and most all she loved spending time with her family.
She departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Savannah, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her children, David L. Bishop and his wife Donna and Steven B. Bishop and his wife Rhonda, all of Savannah; three grandchildren, Bradley Bishop, Billy Bishop and Keisha Blankenship; two stepgrandchildren, Jeffrey Garrard and Brittany Umphrey; five great-grandchildren, Destinie Bishop, Ella Bishop, Maggie Bishop, Molly Blankenship and Montana Blankenship; seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Whitney Garrard, Lyla Garrard, Jeffrey Garrard Jr., Carson Umphrey, Connor Umphrey, Jazmine Umphrey and James Umphrey; and one sister, Dortha Barnes of Adamsville.
Mrs. Bishop is also survived by two very special friends, Jeannette Wilson and Ida Mae Lockard.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Bishop; and one sister, Betty Banks.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., at Old Union Church in Adamsville with J.P. Gillis officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery at Adamsville.
