Mittie Estelle Westerfield Northcutt, 87, was born on May 20, 1928, in Hazzard, Kentucky to the late John T. and Estelle Boyd Westerfield.
On March 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Edwin Gibson Northcutt at Corinth, Mississippi, and made their home in Florence, Alabama.
Mittie was a member of the Eastern Star. She spent numerous hours and years helping and promoting the cause of the Shriners with her husband, who was the past Potentate of Cahaba Shrine in Huntsville, Alabama. Mittie enjoyed camping and traveling. She worked with Kay’s Shoes in Florence, Alabama before retiring.
Mrs. Northcutt departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
Mittie is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cagle of Savannah; nephews, Nickie Cagle, Terry (Carol) Cagle, and Ronnie (Brenda) Cagle, all of Savannah, Mike (Kathleen) Northcutt of Birmingham, Alabama, Sandra Jo Gibb of Savannah and Phyllis Long of Clifton; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Gibson Northcutt; an infant son, Edwin Gibson Northcutt Jr.; and brother, JT Westerfield.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Johnny Burns officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery at Savannah.
