Helen Davis Martin (10-5-15) service 10-8-15
Helen Marie Davis Martin, of Sardis, was born in Wayne County on Jan. 19, 1923, the daughter of the late Douglas Davis and Roxie Davis Bridges.
On April 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to John Fred Martin, who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 30, 1966.
Mrs. Martin retired from Aqua Glass Company after 20 years, she also had worked for Brown Shoe Factory for 15 years. Mrs. Martin was a member of Sinners Hope Church. She lived in the Fellowship Community for 85 years. Mrs. Martin also had been a beautician and she painted pictures and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was an animal lover and she was always there for anyone in need.
Mrs. Martin departed this life on Monday, Oct. 5, in Decaturville, Tennessee, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 16 days.
She is survived by her two children, Joyce Marie Wyatt of Picayune, Mississippi and Terry G. Martin of Nashville; one grandchild, Tina Wyatt Singleton and her husband Tim; one great-grandchild, Taylor Singleton; and one sister, Bessie Pearl Major of Clarksville, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Davis; and three sisters, Mae Bishop, Desser Minton and Nellie Lake.
Services were held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Lloyd Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery.
