Sarah Katherine Parks Womble was born in Knoxville on April 28, 1931.
She went home to heaven on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the age of 84.
She was married to the late Marion Everett Womble Jr. for 56 years.  She is the mother of Gary Womble (wife Melody), Hal Womble (wife Tracey) and Robin Womble Parrish (husband Gil).

Mrs. Womble worked as a nurse at Baptist Hospital in Memphis and was later the devoted caregiver for her husband in his five-year battle with Alzheimers. After his passing, she completed chaplain’s training and was active in disaster relief and mission work across the country. Into her 80s she was a counselor at Camp Bluebird, a week-long adult cancer camp, and she delivered Meals on Wheels until her illness.  She found her joy in service and never retired from caring for others.   She leaves a legacy of faith, kindness and encouragement to everyone who met her.
Mrs. Womble was laid to rest beside her husband in Knoxville on Oct. 1.  A memorial service was held at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah on Saturday, Oct. 3.  In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Womble requested memorials be made to Hopewell Baptist Church missions fund or to Camp Bluebird, c/o West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation in Jackson, Tennessee.
