Joyce Hicks (9-28-15) service 10-3-15

Joyce Pickens Valencia Hicks, 52, of Savannah, died on Monday, Sept. 28, in Savannah.
She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Dalton Griffen and Nellie Marie Harville Pickens. She was united in marriage to John Shannon Hicks, who survives.
Mrs. Hicks was a nurse at Hardin County Nursing Home for 10 years and also worked as a nurse for Hardin County General Hospital for seven years. She was of Pentecostal and Baptist belief.
In addition to her husband, John S. Hicks, she is survived by her children, Charlie Accree of Savannah, Angel Scott and Sara Scott, both of Adamsville; and one sister, Frankie Pickens Scott of Savannah.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, April Marie Pickens; one brother, James Hopper; and one half-brother, Lawton Balentine.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Bruton Baptist Church in Savannah with Thomas Petty officiating. Burial followed in Wilkerson Cemetery at Hardin County.
