Glen Yancey (9-2-15) service 9-8-15
Glen H. Yancey, age 91, of Calera, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2. He was born in Savannah on Aug. 5, 1924, the son of Herman and Annabelle Yancey.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ann Lawler Yancey; and sisters, Ruth Young, Elizabeth Prince, and Agnes Baines.
Survivors include Glen’s sons, Rick Yancey (Darlene), Ronald Yancey, Randy Yancey (Cathy) and Raymond Yancey (Sandee); grandchildren, Brett Yancey (Bailey), Derek Yancey, Robin Setliff, Adrian Setliff, Brandi Yancey Barnes (Joseph), Crystal Yancey Parcher (Sam), MacKenzie Yancey, Sasha Figueroa, Mallory and Jack Yancey, Megan Yancey Seaton, Gage Yancey, and Josh Champion; great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison and Destin Parcher, Kennedy Seaton, Alex and William Champion, Isaac Chambers, Lucas and Zachary Barnes and Ian Nelson; Glen’s special caregivers, Barbara and Michele Perdue; along with many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Glen was a member of Clanton United Methodist Church and retired from coaching football at age 72, having influenced the lives of many young men. He was a retired double Purple Heart veteran having served in World War II in the 36th Infantry Division. He was an avid Alabama fan and rarely missed a game.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at noon in Ridout’s Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham, Alabama. Burial was at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
