Dessie Phillips (8-29-15) service 9-1-15

Dessie Irons Phillips, of Adamsville, departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the age of 99 years, 10 months, 7 days.
She was born in Hardin County on Oct. 22, 1915, the daughter of the late Bert and Myrtle Droke Irons. On Aug. 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to Hays Phillips, who preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1993.
Dessie had worked for Bomar’s Restaurant in Adamsville and retired from Brown Shoe Company in Savannah. She was a member of the Senior Citizens in Crump and First Christian Church in Adamsville. She loved gardening, going to yard sales and collecting glassware. She was a friend to everyone.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Floise Irons.
Services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Adamsville with George Bishop officiating. Burial followed in Pine Hill Memorial Garden at Adamsville.
