Glenda Jane “Choppie” Mills, died Sunday, June 7, in Memphis.
 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Home in Adamsville. Family and friends are invited to meet with the family beginning at 10 a.m.
Choppie was born June 9, 1939, to Glenn “Buster” Mills and Marie Harris Mills. Her family moved many times during her formative years, but she ended up calling Memphis, home. She attended high school at Adamsville High School. She graduated from Memphis State. Choppie worked in the business world for public offices and private companies as an administrative assistant.
Choppie lived life on her own terms as a fiercely independent woman. She was passionate about yard-sales, antiques, cats and Elvis.
She is survived by her sister, Julia Marie Mills; nephew, Joel Frey and wife Deborah; grandniece, Christina Marie Frey; step-grandniece, Rebecca Lane-Istvan and husband Michael; step-great-grandnephew, Liam Leland Istvan, and Mills and Harris cousins.
Choppie was preceded in death by her parents. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Sunny Meadows, a No-Kill Animal Shelter in Bartlett, Tennessee.
