Mary Ella Vaughn (5-23-15) service 5-25-15

Mary Ella Tidwell Vaughn, 97, of Adamsville, died on Saturday, May 23.
She was born in Adamsville,  the daughter of the late John J and Artie Catherine Littlefield Tidwell. She was united in marriage to Leon Grady Vaughn Sr., who preceded her in death.
Miss Vaughn worked for the Department of Human Services, UT Extension Services, a teacher at the Adamsville High School, and was a co-owner of Vaughn’s Department Store. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Adamsville, a 50 plus year member of Eastern Star at Adamsville; a charter member of the Adamsville Lions Club; president of the Retired Social Workers Organization of Tennessee; and a member of the Adamsville McNairy County Senior Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Vaughn Thrasher of Adamsville, Mitzi Robison Sherrill of Jackson, Tennessee;  two sons, Joseph Tidwell Vaughn and Gary Vaughn, both of Adamsville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Leon Grady Vaughn Jr.; a brother, James Tidwell; a sister, Johnnie Caperton; and a granddaughter.
Services were held on Monday, May 25, at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery.
