John Germany (2-11-15) service 2-12-15
Maj. John Robert Germany Jr., USAF, Ret., 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, in Memphis.
He was born in Talladega, Alabama, the son of the late John Robert Germany Sr. and Ida Stacy Patterson Germany.
Maj. Germany served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years piloting C-130s and fought in the Vietnam War. He worked for E&M Pipeline Company for 15 years, served as Sunday school teacher and property trustee of the First United Methodist Church in Cocca Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Dawn Mears Germany of Cocca Beach, Florida; a daughter, Julie Marlene Decker of Alabaster, Alabama; a son, John Kent Germany of Boulder, Colorado; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Wren D. Germany and J.D. Germany; and three sisters, Ella Dixie Mitchell, Dorothy Lillian Chandler and Doris Helen Daniels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ewell and Thomas Cambell Germany.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, Feb. 12, at West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville with James Stophel officiating. Arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer.
