George “Pete” Burnette (1-27-15) service 1-30-15

George I. “Pete” Burnette, 69, of Counce, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
He was born in Nashville, the son of the late George Ira Burnette Jr. and Virginia Estelle Herron Burnette.
Mr. Burnette joined the United States Air Force in 1963 as an air traffic controller. His service took him to many locations during the Vietnam War, one being Southeast Asia. He was honorably discharged in 1971, but continued his aviation career as an air traffic controller with Federal Aviation Administration. He had also been a pilot and a pilot instructor. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He retired from Valero Refinery in Memphis.
He is survived by his daughter, LeAnn G. Swan of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister, Ellen F. Burnette of Memphis; and brother, David L. Burnette of Germantown, Tennessee.

Services were held Friday, Jan. 30, in the Shackelford Chapel with Paul Childers officiating.  Burial was in White Sulphur Cemetery.
