James “Pete” Burns (11-24-14) service 11-28-14

James Edward “Pete” Burns, 63, of Savannah, died Monday, Nov. 24, in Savannah.
He was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the son of the late James Edward and Imogene Tripp Burns. He was united in marriage to Stella Mae Benson, who survives.
Mr. Burns served his country in the United States Army. He was of Church of Christ belief.
In addition to his wife, Stella of Savannah, he is survived by two stepsons, Hershel Tilley of Finger, Tennessee and J. B. Tilley of Savannah; three stepdaughters, Wanda Steely and Glona Hollander, both of Savannah and Frances Tilley of Calhoun, Georgia; several stepgrandchildren, several stepgreat-grandchildren and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael Burns of Memphis; two sisters, Carol Stevens of Waynesboro and Joanne Gaine of Florida
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Shirley Powell; two stepsons, Johnny and Herby Tilley; and one sister, Joyce Jones.
Services were held on Friday, Nov. 28, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Highland officiating. Burial followed in Hollands Creek Cemetery at Savannah.
