Glenda West Francis, of Clifton, was born in Florence, Alabama on Sept. 2, 1957, the daughter of Shirley West Riley and the late Glenn West of Waynesboro. She passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville from massive brain hemorrhage at the age of 57 years, 2 months, 2 days.
She was a member of Waynesboro Church of God. After graduation from Wayne County High School in 1975, she briefly attended U.N.A. in Florence. In Glenda’s early years she worked for Pat Warren, her first employer, learning the food service business. She then opened “Pizza Corner” in 1977 where her father Glenn West had his chain saw business. As the restaurant was growing she met and married Michael A. Francis on Aug. 24, 1985, and because of their leadership and hard work they developed Emerald’s Restaurant into the success it is today. To this marriage two sons can now can be found working along side their parents.
Glenda is survived by her husband Michael A. Francis; son, Chandler W. Francis and his wife Karli and their first grandson Carter, all of Clifton; son, Kincaid Francis of Murfreesboro; her mother, Shirley West Riley of Waynesboro; brother, Randall West and his wife Linda of Monteville, Ohio; sister, Tabitha Daniel and her husband, Stephen of Smyrna, Tennessee; and two nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn West; and brother, Anthony West.
Services were Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m., at Wayne County High School gymnasium in Waynesboro with Donnie McDaniel officiating. Interment followed services in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
