Ira McGarrity (10-22-14) service 10-26-14

Ira Wayne McGarrity, 76, of  Savannah, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Memphis.
He was born in Mississippi,  the son of the late Ira Glenn and Minerva Jane Scallion McGarrity. He was united in marriage to Diane Irvin, who survives.
Mr. McGarrity worked as an end welder for LTV Steel for 30 years and he served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the gospel singing groups, Deep South and Prophet Quartets and The Galileans of Mississippi.
In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by his children, Byron McGarrity of Savannah,  Marsha McGarrity of Savannah, Ronnie Lee of Jackson, Mississippi and Mark Lee of Mississippi; one grandchild; two sisters, Hazel Smith of Kilmichael, Mississippi and Margaret O’Bryant of Cascilla, Mississippi; and two brothers, Perry McGarrity of Winona, Mississippi and Guy McGarrity of Sebastopol, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Rae Busby.
Services were held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at Souls Harvest Church in Savannah with Bobby Pickens and Guy McGarrity officiating. Burial followed in  Plummer’s Chapel Cemetery at Savannah.
