Margarite C. Smith, 82, of Savannah, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Harbert Hills Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late Harmon Crete and Laura Marley Crete. She was united in marriage to Edgar Bally Smith who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Smith was employed at one time as a dishwasher for Cherry’s Truck Stop Restaurant and she also worked for a sewing factory in previous years. She was a member of People’s Tabernacle Church for a few years and then went to Gospel Church for four years.
She is survived by a son, James Williams Jr.; one grandchild; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchilren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Celia Vocha and Dorothy Shaver; three brothers and three other sisters, all of Nashville.
A graveside service was held on Friday, Oct. 3, at Wilkerson Cemetery in Hardin County with Thomas Petty officiating.
