Charles Robert “Bobby” Cagle Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the age of 78 years, 3 months, 30 days.
He was born in Cerro Gordo on April 13, 1936, the son of the late Charles Robert and Mildred Louise Meadors Cagle. On May 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Norma Gayle Jerrolds, who survives.
Bobby served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was an elder of Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah and owned Cagle Purity Distributers. Bobby loved to spend time with his family, and was a great cook and gardener. He owned and rode horses and spent summer on the river boating.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Gayle Cagle of Savannah; son, Robert Cagle and wife Carol of Johnson City, Tenn.; daughter, Lisa Maness and husband Anthony of Savannah; grandchildren, Michael Cagle and wife Catherine, Leslie Nelson and husband Rob, Sarah Cagle, Ryan Jerrolds, Cassie Kilborn, Austin Cherry and Dustin Maness; great-grandchild, Harper Maness; sisters, Becky Alexander and Alice Mathews, both of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Michael Cagle; and sisters, Doris Copeland, Betty Brewington and Pat Baily.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m., at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating.
