Lloyd Blankenship Jr., 97, of Michie, died Thursday, July 24.
He was born in Morris Chapel, the son of the late Lloyd Sr. and Timie Ann Brooks Blankenship. He was united in marriage to Earlie Loveda Turnbow, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Blankenship was a farmer by trade and was a member of Crump First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Lloyd Edward Blankenship of Sardis, Tenn., Billy Wayne Blankenship of Kennett, Mo., Jimmy Harold Blankenship of Kennett, Mo., Katherine Ann Bullington of Stantonville, Tenn., Mary E. (Nell) Phillips of Sardis, Tenn., Phillip Ray Blankenship of Michie, Mattie Sue Scott of Eatonton, Ga., Nancy Carol Poe of Paragould, Ark., Linda D. Robertson of Eatonton, Ga., formerly of Adamsville, Shelia K. West of Selmer; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Faye Blankenship; one great-granddaughter; one great -great grandchild; brothers, Harry, Cornelis, Bill and Tom Blankenship; and sisters, Louis Wimberly, Abby Austin, Mattie Hughes and Birdie Sue Blankenship.
Services were held on Saturday, July 26, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Rev. George Weaver, Lloyd Blankenship and David Poe officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery at Hardin County.
