Alma Jean McGarity Hinkle was born Jan. 15, 1937, in McNairy County, Tenn., the daughter of the late James Melvin and Lizzie Spence McGarity.
Mrs. Hinkle attended school in McNairy County and was united in marriage to Earl Hinkle in 1965. Mr. Hinkle preceded her in death earlier this year. 
Mr. Hinkle served in the U.S. Army so they had traveled throughout the world and moved to Tennessee in 1995 settling in Enville. She was a member of the Enville Community Club.
Mrs. Hinkle departed this life on July 27, in Jackson, Tenn., at the age of 77 years, 6 months, 12 days.
She is survived by a son, Paul M. Ross and wife Sandra of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Amber Michelle Ross, Carrie Jennette Brown and Robert Wesley Ross; and her aunt Arlene Moore and cousin Susie Stafford.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 30, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Johnson Chapel in Henderson, Tenn., with Bro. Bill Evans officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Enville, Tenn.
