Evelyn Simmons (7-6-14) service 7-9-14

Evelyn (Grandma) Simmons, 92, of the Walnut Grove community, died Sunday, July 6.
She was born in San Augustine, Texas, the daughter of the late John and Ebb Luker Karnes. She was united in marriage to Henry James Simmons, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a member of Olivet Pentecostal Church in Savannah.
She is survived by four daughters, Evelyn Maxine Norris, Bennie Jean Simmons and Billie Sue Ray, all of Savannah, and Carolyn Ann Mancil of Dardanelle, Ark.;11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonny Karnes, Loyd Karnes and Elmose Karnes; and one grandchild.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 9, at Olivet Pentecostal Church in Savannah with Chris Smith and Jason Dugger officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Savannah.
