Samuel Royce Smith, 68, of Adamsville, died Saturday, June 21, at the Savannah Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Chester County, the son of the late Ivy G. and Pearlie Mae Essary Smith.
Mr. Smith did construction work in Texas, cut timber for Roach Brothers at Enville and worked at Kilburn Chrome Company at Adamsville. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Milledgeville.
He is survived by a son, Jeffery Smith of Lexington; a daughter, Lisa Kegley of Jackson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Smith of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Glen Smith of Memphis; three sisters, Dortha Davis of Lenoir City, Betty McClellan of Lenoir City and Brenda Bushnell of Reagan.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruby Crowell, Bobbie Helms, Maxine Organ, Wanda Johnson and Jimmie Carnes; and two brothers, J.T. and Paul Smith.
Funeral services were held on Monday June 23, at 2 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors–Casey Chapel with W.D. Hilton officiating. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery.
