Alvin Ray Smith, 50, of Savannah, died Thursday, June 12, in Savannah.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of Bessie Benson Smith and the late Alvin Eugene Smith.
Alvin was a logger for J.B. Smith Logging.
In addition to his mother, Bessie Smith of Savannah, he is survived by four sisters, Barbara Shubert, Wanda Franks, Betty O’Daniel and Becky Lambert; and two brothers, Garry Smith and Arthur Smith, all of Savannah. He is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lou Franks and two nieces.
Services were held on Sunday, June 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jimmy McGee and Carl Copeland officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Savannah.
