Dorothy Benson, 72, of Savannah, died on Saturday, Jan. 4. She was born in Stevenson, Ala., the daughter of the late Alvin and Ella Mae Evans Wilkerson.
She had worked as a seamstress at Angelica and El Rancho, and was an electrician at Clayton Homes. She was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Church.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Moore of Huntsville, Ala., Connie Franks of Savannah, Tony Benson of Olive Hill, Ky., Donna Hayes of Lawrenceburg, Robert Benson of Crump, and Trent Benson of Savannah; sisters, Dora Bentley and Alene Wilkerson both of Friona, Texas; brothers, Rayford and Kenneth Wilkerson both of Friona, Texas;16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Benson and Brent Adam Benson; a brother, David Wilkerson and a granddaughter, Melanie Robertson.
Services were held on Monday, Jan. 6, in Savannah with Jimmy McGee officiating. Burial followed at Hollands Creek Cemetery in Hardin County.
