Gladys Baker (12-16-13) service 12-18-13

Gladys Ethel Baker departed this life on Monday, Dec. 16, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, 28 days. Gladys was born in Wayne County on Dec. 18, 1923, the daughter of the late Archie R. and Ollie Adkisson Burns. On Dec. 26, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert Morris Baker, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2007.

She had lived in the Clifton area all of her life and was a homemaker. Gladys enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert David Baker, and a daughter, Patsy Evans and husband Mike, all of Clifton; grandchildren, Rebecca Turner and husband Jeramy, James Evans, and John Evans and wife Candice; great-grandchildren, Nate and Ava Turner.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Archie Bryant; sisters, Neely Lowe, Myrtle Baker, Willodean Burns, and an infant sister; brothers, T.J. Burns, Ralph Burns, Robert Burns, Billy G. Burns, J.B. Burns, and an infant brother.

Services were held on Dec. 18 at Mount Carmel Methodist Church in Clifton with Johnny Burns officiating. Burial followed at the Baker Cemetery in Clifton.
