Doris Small (11-15-13) service 11-30-13

Doris Jane Thompson Small was born on July 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Delrey and Noble Thompson. She was married 35 years to Warren “Pete” Small who preceded her in death.

She resided in Pickwick 43 years. Mrs. Small loved going to church, shopping with her sister Nancy, and playing Scrabble with anybody who dared. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Counce.

Mrs. Small, 89, departed  this life on Friday, Nov. 15, in her home.

She is survived by two daughters, Bette Lynn Parker, and Cathy Jane Goff; one sister, Nancy Stracener; two grandsons, Brent Parker (Sandie) and John Parker; one granddaughter, Brandy Newton; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Delores Tacky Mills and brother-in-law, William Stracener.

Memorial to be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Counce with Jimmie McChristial officiating. Her remains were donated for medical research.
