Tommy Styers (10-11-13) service 10-13-13

 

 

 

Tommy Roberts Styers, Sr. was born in Hardin County, on April 27, 1931 the son of the late Thomas Stanford and Amy Roberts Styers. On November 26, 1954 he was united in marriage to Ann DeBerry, who survives.

Mr. Styers was a pipe fitter and welder for Reynolds Aluminum Company in Muscle Shoals, Ala. for 30 years. He served his country in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Mr. Styers was a member of Tennessee River Lodge F&AM #102 in Savannah, Local #760 Pipe fitters Union in Muscle Shoals, Ala. and Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah.

He enjoyed singing, camping and riding a Kubota Zero Turn Lawn mower and he most enjoyed talking and being around friends.

He died on Friday, Oct. 11, at Savannah Health Care, Savannah at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 14 days.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Anne of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Laura Lisa Styers Rich and Tommy Roberts Styers, Jr. both of Savannah; five grandchildren, Heather Nicole Wilkins Highland, Jennifer Anne Wilkins Cromwell, Stephanie Anne Styers Roberts, Benjamin Jacob Styers and Thomas Preston Styers; two great-grandchildren, Keri Elyse Highland and Kambria Elise Robert.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lura McCarrell and Joyce Medley.

Services were held on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating.Burial followed at the Neill Cemetery in Savannah.
