James Wylie “Jimmy” Welch departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the age of 66 years, 6 months, 22 days.

He was born in Hardin County, on Feb. 20, 1947, the son of the late Wylie and Norma Crunk Welch. On Nov. 13, 1965, he was united in marriage to Edna Mae Davison.

Jimmy was an engineer with TVEC for 42 years and a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 39 years. He was a member of the Mt. View Church of Christ, Tennessee River Lodge #102 F&AM of Savannah, and the IBEW in Muscle Shoals, Ala. He was also a member and supporter of the Shriner - Al Chymia of Memphis. As a member of the Shriner’s he carried young people to the hospital and gave other services when needed, he was always willing to help. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edna Davison Welch of Savannah; daughters, Kim Welch Echols and her husband Ricky of Collierville, Tenn. and Kristie Welch of Cordova, Tenn.; grandchildren, Riley Echols, Kaitlin Echols, Kathryn Echols, and
Kamilie Echols; brothers, Danny Welch of Whiteville, Tenn. and Larry Welch Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Welch and an infant sister.

Services were held on Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Paul Briley and Tracy Love officiating. Burial
followed in the Goshen Cemetery at Hardin County.
