Sammy Keith Hight of Jackson, Tenn. departed this life on Sept. 8, at Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. at the age of 71.

He was born on May 14, 1942, in Morris Chapel, the son of the late Will and Devora Newman Hight. Mr. Hight was a retired truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Line.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Hight of Jackson, Tenn.; a son, Retired Lt. Col. Tim Hight and wife Judy of Nashville; daughters, Regina Wyatt and husband Tommy of Adamsville, Lisa Neill and husband Kelvin of Savannah; step daughter, Jill Mats of Jackson, Tenn., and stepson, Chief Warrant Officer Jaret Mats and wife Jennifer of Tavenier, Fla.; grandchildren, Wesley Foster and Hunter Wyatt of Adamsville, Justin Smith of Savannah, and Laken Hight of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one step grandchild, Dylan Mats of Tavenier, Fla.; brothers, John Hight of Morris Chapel and Paul Hight of Savannah; a sister, Joann Curtis of Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Gean Hight.

Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dewey Bortoff, Nelson Hight officiating. Burial will follow in the Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville.
